Environment & sustainability

A sustainable development

Whether we are producing wallpapers using printing techniques from the 1920s or 2020s, it still leaves an imprint on the world around us.

Our work

The climate change has an impact on our daily lives. In these critical and escalating times for the environment, real actions are more important than ever.

As a major player within the Wallpaper industry, we recognize our responsibility to be in the forefront of improving our way of working with a focus on the challenges our planet is facing. Borås Tapetfabrik will provide the world with sustainable wallpaper solutions. Whether we are producing wallpapers using printing techniques from the 1920s or 2020s, it still leaves its mark on the world around us. For us, there is a common thread that unites care for craft, the importance of preserving resources and today’s view on sustainability.

Materials

We do not use PVC in our wallpapers. The materials consist either of pure pulp or of pulp with synthetic PET fibers. This makes the material strong and flexible. The synthetic fibers are step by step replaced with recyclable fibers.

All wallpapers from Tapetfabriken are produced from FSC approved materials in an FSC approved factory, se our FSC-certificate here. This means that we ensure that the paper we use comes from forests that are maintained in a sustainable way with concern to the environment and the people.

”Borås Tapetfabrik will provide the world with sustainable wallpaper solutions.”

inks

We produce all our inks by ourselves. The ink we produce are completely water-based. All waste is recycled, and we use the rest, mix it, and make new inks. We have installed our own treatment plant that filters all waste paint from wastewater, so that only clean, checked, clarified water remains.

Production

We are integrating environmental aspects in all our processes. Our production is our most critical process where we have our greatest impact. Doing the right thing from the start, minimizing matrix and deviations has a major impact in our ambition to reduce our material waste.

Well-functioning printing presses is of great importance for optimal production without any interference. Our technicians in the maintenance department together with our operators make significant contributions in this important work to optimize a more sustainable production. Continuous improvement in production means that we regularly reduce discards and wastes.

But we will not stand still, we will constantly develop our production and our processes with ambition to enable more reuse and recycling. We are working close to our suppliers, and we continue to work on our life cycle approach to create more sustainable wallpapers and production methods. We have set clear goals and by the end of 2030 we will reduce our Co2 by 50%.
