A Creative Collaboration
for a Meaningful Cause.
Through a unique collaboration, Majblomman and Borås Tapetfabrik have created the Artwork of the Year 2024. The result is Majken – an exclusive wallpaper design supporting Majblomman’s mission to prevent child poverty in Sweden.

About the Collaboration
Since 1912, the Swedish charity organisation Majblomman has invited artists to support their cause by creating unique interpretations of the iconic flower. In 2024, that tradition continued with Majken – a wallpaper design by Borås Tapetfabrik’s own Johanna Ek. Inspired by Majblomman’s long visual history, Johanna gave the flower a new, poetic form, gently scattering soft petals over a calm and expressive background.
The collection is available in three colourways, each with its own mood and personality, carefully designed to complement different spaces in the home.
A Limited Edition with a Purpose
Majken is printed in Sweden on FSC-certified paper and carries the CE mark, meeting the highest environmental and safety standards. It’s sold exclusively at majblomman.se, with proceeds going directly to Majblomman’s work to fight child poverty in Sweden.

Wallpaper That Makes a Difference
Every purchase supports children living in financially vulnerable families – providing help for things like a warm winter jacket, football shoes, a birthday party, or the cost of a leisure activity. Majblomman also funds research and works to influence policy, with the goal of giving more children the chance to grow up free from poverty.
More Than a Wallpaper
At Borås Tapetfabrik, we believe that design has the power to do more than transform spaces – it can also support meaningful change. When the opportunity to collaborate with Majblomman arose, it felt natural. Their work to fight child poverty in Sweden aligns with our values of responsibility, respect, and community. This project allowed us to contribute with what we do best – crafting something beautiful, lasting, and full of purpose.

The May flower pins themselves are very special with all their colours, and how they vary from year to year. It’s an exciting journey to be able to follow the development of the organisation visually, and it feels fantastic to be able to summarise with a new artistic expression.
